This year we are thrilled to be working with the Fairmont New Orleans as our host hotel. The Fairmont will be where we have our sponsor exhibit area, and where our workshops will be held. Directly across the street when you go out the back entrance of the Fairmont is the Orpheum Theatre.

The Orpheum is where we will be having the keynote address Friday night and the main panel sessions Saturday and Sunday afternoons and early evenings.

If you don’t already know, TapeOpCon is a get-together aimed at engineers, producers, studio owners, musicians, home recordists, and the just plain curious. We all descend in one place for a giant think tank and geek fest. It is a chance to meet the writers and contributors and many of the people whose interviews have graced the magazines pages. TapeOpCon 2002 and 2003 proved that this gathering of the Tape Op recording community is one of the best experiences you can have. You will make new friends and be challenged to think about how you record. You will definitely go home refreshed and reenergized. Harry Shearer of Spinal Tap and the Simpsons will be our emcee.

The City of New Orleans is ready to welcome us with open arms and it promises to be a weekend not to forget. We will have some great live music on Saturday night, that you can be sure. Don’t forget, Monday, the 31st, is a holiday so there is no need to rush home as we will be having our after-party Sunday night. Of course, there is no shortage of night life and music in New Orleans at anytime and our venues are just across Canal Street and near the French Quarter and the Riverfront. Oh, and don’t forget about the food!

So, come on in, check out our schedule, our topics and panels. For more information on how to book a room at our special rate, please go to our accommodations page.
